A special collaboration between FARMS at the Y and Neighborhood Clay brings your child a day of camp involving ceramics and culinary arts. Campers will start out at Neighborhood Clay for a 2-hour ceramics lesson and then spend the afternoon learning to cook in the teaching kitchen at the Y. In the end, campers will get to enjoy their edible creations in their ceramic creations. This camp is great for hands-on learners with artistic creativity and focus. Lunch will be provided; staff will walk campers from Neighborhood Clay to CLC. Drop off at Neighborhood Clay at 9am
In the morning, at Neighborhood Clay we will make teabowls, teapots and sushi sets. Also, all students will be given an opportunity to use the wheel to create items such as cups, mugs, bowls, vases or plates. All pieces created during class time can be painted with a variety of colors. Work will then be dried in the studio, fired in a kiln 2 times, the second time will include a clear shiny glaze that is durable, food safe, microwave and dishwasher safe. Work will be ready for pick up at the studio in 2 weeks. If you are traveling you maybe choose to have work shipped. Cost will depend on amount, weight and distance.
